Knowing Unique Poet.

Exclusive Interview with Utsaha Joshi aka UNIQ POET - NepalBuzz

Uniq poet is a household name in Nepalese hip-hop industry today. But I have always known him by UTSAHA JOSHI. He is my neighbor and his house is one block away from mine. He was born in Kathmandu but spent two years of kindergarten and a year of primary year in Switzerland. He was a sharp kid from childhood and was introduced early in the world of programming. That is to say that he used to build pc games when in middle school. We kids of our neighborhood used to watch him try different games modules and he would always promise us of making main character in his games.

He has an older brother, Uchit dai who is one of the few people that I admire. He was brilliant in the ways of life and philosophy. He was very interested in the spirit of mind and use to guide us in the ways of meditation, breathing technique, concentration power, third eye and what not. Me and my neighborhood friends of four used to visit his house during weekends as we loved him. It was through that period that we got familiar with Utsaha dai. He didn't mingled with us as much as his big brother but he would allow us to play playstation sometimes but watching him play was more fun for me. Uniq poet was into computer much more than his brother. As years passed, we could hear him free styling something every time we visited his house in his new golden-colored mike. It was sometime after those times that we heard his famous raw-barz battles with other rappers of his generation. It was moment of glory for us that he became famous. He was chasing his dreams, busy with schedules and music. As time passed, I and my friends were focusing on schools and Uchit dai was not as available as few years ago as he was focusing on his studies. So our visit were not frequent but we talk whenever we meet. Uniq poet was facing difficult career choices after +2 and was pressured by family to first complete his degree and then pursue music afterwards. So he went to Australia for his bachelors and we heard from him less in music industry. But he came back after two years from abroad after an accident with his friend in Australia and could no longer study there. So he joined bachelors in Nepal and kept on making music side by side. As he was already a skillful programmer he was not pressured on bachelors and kept releasing his greatest hit albums and collaboration song with famous singer and rappers.

He writes his own song and is an amazingly skillful free styler. His songs mostly depicts the society and its dark sides and focuses on influencing youths to make a better of themselves so that they can rebuild society to help nation. His other songs are based on social boycott of Nepalese system, himself and for entertainment. Seeing him never giving on his dream of becoming an iconic rapper land chasing his dreams inspires me a lot. He is now focusing on both his career as a musician and programmer side by side so that he doesn't loose on his passion. His story of struggle and his advice has helped a lot of new generation rappers and musicians who are confused about their life choices. He is influencer and role model to all those people who believe that dreams can come true if you persist hard for them.

Limits of humanity

We might as well argue that our limit lies beyond the stars or perhaps there is no limit to which our civilization can prosper, where our descendants will dominate the outreach of cosmos. But as we know even the infinity is restricted by limit. The very idea of infinity lies on our capacity to unable to imagine something so vast, so beyond our prospect of imagination, something that does not exist in our realm of thoughts. So in this extensive process where we are heading towards the undisputed path of oblivion and nothing in the universe last forever where does our limits last? Is there a border we will never be able to reach? Are there places we may never discover despite every effort we put? The answer might be pretty disappointing. Sharing a deep affinity with the ever expanding universe, it seems that our limit lies in the very limit of universe itself. Our solar system is located in a remote corner of a 100,000 light year radius sized spiral galaxy. Even the trip to the nea...

Post class reflection (August 14)

It was a lovely morning and the class begun at 9 o'clock sharp. Today's class was different from any other as we were presenting "The Stub Book". I was a little nervous to be frank and was discussing all sort of questions and process with my friend Aditya. As the class started Mr. Duwadi sir talked about online poll system and buzz words but the first link he sent was not accessible. But the next one worked which evaluated the answer students submitted. Next was the time for presentation part which was rushed as time was limited because we only have one hour class on Friday. Ashish and Anurag presented on " Adaptive Failure: Easter’s End." It was a beautiful presentation full of details, data and charts. They clarified the idea about the sustainable development and the consequences of not using the natural resources wisely. It talked about how unplanned activities may lead to destruction of the whole civilization. The poem that was presented at the end o...

Post class reflection (August 5)

It was a cloudy Wednesday and our ENGT class started at 1 pm.   Enjoying sweet breeze that passes by my window almost every day at noon I was discovering "diamante" style of poem which our instructor Mr. Duwadi sir introduced. To be frank I don’t have many ideas about format of poem in English literature but discovering new things is my favorite part of this class. Here is my own version of diamante poem:   Ancient Primordial Foregone Hunting Surviving Fighting Civilization Culture Economy Science Inventing Empowering Composing Medicine Comfort Space Modern Following the diamante format, presentation part took over. The first group was Chandan Mahato's and Siris Mainali's group in which they discussed about memo-writing. Memo writing was something we well discussed in previous semester so it was easy to understand what my friends were presenting. Their presentation topic was followed by "The four tusk elephant" which was presented by Nisc...
